As Russian and Ukrainian websites have fallen victim to cyber attacks and Moscow has restricted access to some foreign social media, Internet users in both countries have turned to other online tools such as the dark web and VPN to help circumvent these blockades.

The man created and operated dark web forums through Tor that allowed anonymous drug transactions. Between 2014 and 2017, a significant amount of drugs were sold, purchased, and distributed through his dark web site. He was not personally involved in the drug dealing process and did not benefit financially from the drug trafficking.

In its announcement, Tor officials thanked the cryptocurrency community for its strong support and said that through donations, Tor has made great strides to successfully deal with the Russian blockade and is also playing an important role in improving cryptocurrency privacy.

Swissport, the world's largest airline and airport service provider, has been hit by a ransomware group behind the attack, BlackCat, and the ransom hackers have been selling all 1.6 terabytes of their stolen data on dark web sites.

Blockchain analytics provider Elliptic revealed that the four Russian sites earned a total of about $263 million in digital assets through illegal transactions. The three most commonly used cryptocurrencies are bitcoin (BTC), ethereum (ETH) and litecoin (LTC).

HaoYu Wang, 26, who is from China but attended the University of Utah, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on suspicion of murder, according to an arrest statement. Wang told police he bought heroin and fentanyl on the dark Web and that the couple intended to kill themselves together.

The FBI uncovered clues to the plot through an online chat room conversation on the Dark Web, where the young man, born in Battaglia, said he wanted to commit a terrorist act in Portugal. The Portuguese police were then notified.

Europe's largest car importer, Swiss group Emil Frey, has fallen victim to a cyber attack. The data was found on the dark web and apparently customers in Switzerland and Germany were affected.

A 41-year-old man from Delfzijl was sentenced to six months in prison, half of which was suspended, for trying to buy a gun while the police pretended to be the seller.

According to Trustwave SpiderLabs, members of the underground forum believe their countries are no longer safe havens and fear arrest. Some have suggested moving their ransomware operations to India, China, the Middle East or Israel.
