Dark Web’s Largest Search Engine DuckDuckGo Announces Dark Web V3 Domain
As the V2 elimination time announced by the Tor project is approaching, there will be a warning when the new version of the Tor browser accesses the V2 domain name. Recently, DuckDuckGo, the largest search engine on the dark web, announced its dark web V3 domain name and officially used it.
DuckDuckGo was established in 2008. From the very beginning, the company’s privacy policy was simple: “We do not collect or share personal information.” And because of this, DuckDuckGo has always been the search engine integrated by the Tor browser by default. For more than ten years, DuckDuckGo has been providing a privacy alternative to Google search at https://duckduckgo.com . It also provides a mobile dedicated browser for iOS / Android (DuckDuckGo privacy browser), as well as Firefox , Chrome , and Safari (DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials) plug-in to protect user privacy.
Compared with Google, DuckDuckGo has three major characteristics:
1. Pay attention to privacy protection
The words below the DuckDuckGo search box are "Search anonymously, find now." Anonymous search is not an exaggeration. In this case, it means that DuckDuckGo doesn't know who you are when you use it, and can't – and promise not – to connect your search to you.
2. Not collecting and saving user data
DuckDuckGo stated that it will not save the user's IP and other identifiable information including: login credentials for other services, such as user names and email addresses, as well as social media login information, and personal identification stored in browser cookies Character, search date and time, etc.
3. Not saving and sharing search content.
Unlike Google, DuckDuckGo does not provide a "search history" option. It clearly states that it will not record and personal content in searches will not be shared with third-party advertisers.

As of Friday, July 23, 2021, if I paste the URL, https://duckduckgogg42xjoc72x3sjasowoarfbgcmvfimaftt6twagswzczad.onion/ into my DDGOO addbar and click enter, despite all of my privacy settings set within https://3g2upl4pq6kufc4m.onion, having set FALSE to the entry DDGO.com (in longform) within about:config (setting TRUE to onion, only!) and having removed DDGO.com from the search engine listings under Search in about:preferences, I am switched to a DDGO.com page (that/ which I’ll never use!… as one’s privacy settings can be easily wiped out!… as I discovered, when I merely download DDGO.com to my Windows taskbar– outside of Tor!), and I am looking at a DDGO.com search bar! And if I enter an expression within my addbar, tap enter and try to enter DDGOO’s SEARCH BAR, the page rolls over to the new URL cited above, and I’m once again facing the DDGO.com search bar!… and this, after having set my privacy settings using the new URL (and with a slash and settings at the end)! And the only solution would appear to be using my addbar for searches… and, since my Version 2 Onion search bar isn’t working, I’ve turned the Header Behaviour to Off under Appearance of All Settings (as applying the “dropper widget” from uBlock to the search bar, will result in the shutdown of all of the menu’s elements/ options!)!
I note with interest, that Microsoft (whose Operating System I’ve been using for decades… in conjunction with the TorProject’s Browser!) now has Operational Control of the Github Platform (see, https://www.wired.com/story/microsoft-github-code-moderation/… a “go-to-source” for everything Tor related… but, a veritable conflict of interest in the light of the “backdoor breach revelations” provided by Edward Snowden and Julian Assange against Microsoft [see, https://wikileaks.org/ciav7p1/ and https://www.independent.co.uk/news/edward-snowden-claims-microsoft-collaborated-nsa-and-fbi-allow-access-user-data-8705755.html%5D)… and in apparent contrast to Tor’s PROFFERED Human ICT Rights Protecting pap! And I ask: “what would possess a self-professing ‘defender’ of Human ICT Rights to allow it(‘)s go-to-source for everything Tor, to be bought out by a group that the wisest of its followers suspect has been– and suspect may still be!– in breach of the very Human ICT Rights that it claims to uphold… and, what portion of the 7.5 billion bucks given out by Microsoft for Github has, indeed– in fact!– come by way of any number of ‘Anti Human ICT Rights Stakeholders (e.g., the U.S. Government!… and/ or sundry of its Agencies!… etc!)’?” And so– and e.g.– what confidence should anyone have in Github’s willingness to participate in the development of the proposed free and open source public alternative to Twitter (i.e., ‘Nitter’!)?… given it(‘)s economic conflict of interest!
Frankly!… it’s difficult to determine which “ICT stakeholders” pose the greatest “CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER” to ICT and to the Net (the Net, a component of ICT!)!… the CCP, our ICT Corporate Community or our “Intelligence Community”!
Bill Gates, is said damaged goods… whose wife– apparently!– has a tale (or two!) to tell! But, then, THAT’s not the only THING that’s been “dripping”!… i.e., if Snowden and Assange are to be believed! And to have allowed this “dripper” to potentially “groom” and “traffick” the once innocent Github platform, is to pervert GNU!
I hope that this is a temporary glitch!
